This is one awesome machine and we are happy to have it at Autogeek! The Flex XC 3401 VRG is a TRUE dual action polisher that spins (RPMs) and orbits (OPMs) making it highly effective at safely removing paint defects such as scratches and swirls.

The FLEX Orbital Polisher is a dual action polisher on steroids! The FLEX Polisher produces the same random orbital motion of other dual action buffers but the range of movement is greater plus it spins like a rotary. The FLEX effectively removes swirls, scratches, and oxidation that can’t be removed using other D.A. polishers. The FLEX Polisher is one of the best polishers we’ve ever tested!

Purchase The FLEX Orbital Polisher at Autogeek.net (http://www.autogeek.net/flex-orbital-polisher.html)

What is its advantage over the Porter Cable? I'll be shopping for a polisher in Spring...

Digging up a month old post here. I have the 7424 but I'm not excited about how much it vibrates at higher speeds. Is the FLEX better in this respect? It says "smooth" but can somebody that's used both please weigh in?

A month, its a year old! :D Flex is much smoother! I am sure others will agree.

LOL.... So that's what that 2007 means! What year is this again? :)

The PC has it's place if you want to save a few $ and have time on your hands! Don't expect fast results. Get the Flex if you can. GH

Time is something I don't have a lot of. If I can save a couple of hours on a 8-10 hour detail, I'm all for it. I want the tool to last a LONG time though. I'm not a detailer, I'm an auto enthusiast that does all my own work.

I am like you in that I only take care of my and a few friends cars. I will never detail for a living but like to have the right tools for the job. You will not save a couple of hours with the Flex- you will save a couple of days!! You cannot do even minor paint correction in 8-10 hrs with the PC. The other thing you need to consider is that you don't polish the car every weekend. If you did it would not have any paint on it in a month or 2. The PC is fine for maintaining a good finish or removing a defect or two. You could have a pro detaier do your car for the price of the Flex and get the PC to keep it up. As I type this I can see probably $20,000 worth of tools that for the most part aren't used very often. GH

Same here my friend... I love having the 'right' tool for the job. Sometimes the cost doesn't justify it but hey.... it's cheaper than a drug habit.

I don't know anything about drugs but can assure you that detailing is habit forming. I thought it was expensive until I started taking photography more seriously. Spent $2,800 in the last 2 months just getting started. GH

Would the Flex help me save some time over my UDM? I love my UDM, the only thing I don't like is how much time it takes to get a full panel corrected. I need to work in the same spot for 5-7 minutes to get the polish broken down. I would like something that breaks it down faster, but isn't a rotary.

Like FMINUS said, the Flex fills the gap between a PC/UDM and a rotary.

I bought one yesterday - I just couldn't resist the prospect of spending less time polishing my car. I will certainly post my thoughts after I have had a chance to put it through the paces.
