This may be common knowledge to most, but I found it useful, when discussing painting with my mechanic.
When painting something, i.e. a car part, and don't have access to a paint booth, the following tip will help cut down on the dust in the immediate area.
Spray a circle of water in the area you will be painting- about 10 feet or so in diameter.
Place the item to be painted in the middle of the wet circle- on a box, or hanger, depending on what it is, and paint away.
The wet ground dramatically cuts down on the dust in the air- thus allowing less of it to land on your newly painted item.
Hope this helps.
