You don't have to buy the black out kit from Hamann to black out your grill. There are instructions using just spray paint. Rook has done this to his M coupe and it looks fantastic.

If you don't want to deal with rock chips, then the covers is the way to go. I been there done with that with the painting and sooner or later it chips and its a pain in the ass to redo it again.

I had mine painted, and half a year later I've got a bunch of chips in it.

If you want lasting look- CF wrap it (Or buy buy it for $100 already wrapped from www.carbon-werks.com), or get the cover.

Every time you pop the grill in and out you're risking with breaking the clips. If you get any of the options I listed above- it's a one time thing.

I hear y'all on painting them. I have heard from many people that they will eventually chip. I really don't feel like f**king with them over and over. You can get them for $70 and that to me is worth the hours I'll spend repainting them. Remeber time is $$. Agreed?:)
