My 95 525I has had the ASC light lit since I have owned it and I was told from the shop that regularly serviced the car that it was the "Pre throttle servo motor". However the motor would still work because on occasion I have had it kick in and stick shut due to the cable being frayed. I have since replaced the cable and the motor but still have the light lit on the dash.

My ABS and cruise control work, the ASC seems to be the only thing affected at the moment

Is there anyway to pull a code for the traction control or test it further? Im not sure how helpful traction control is on the E34's but winter is coming in Minnesota and Im sure I will find out.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any idea where I can find some info on this? Or does my car store codes that I have to clear in order for it to work?

i fixed my light by changing the plug from the throttle position sensor and asc sensor. both plugs are the same so it may be that the plugs got switched at some point. give it a try.

i checked the codes and it was code 40 throttle valve potentiometer.

I did the same thing, and have the same light on....so far noone has had an answer as to how to fix the problem.

If anyone does I would love to know.
