Hi everyone. Great forum!
I know alot of 1st posters are leechers looking for advice and I must admit to that also. So I appreciate any advice you might have and if you'd rather pass that's fine too. If it's any help, I'm an active forum guy on other sites and try to help the newcomers. (I ride a Honda VFR Interceptor).
I'm looking for a 94/95 E34 540i and seeing a red 94 on ebay. Can't post the url or pics as I'm new. Easy to find on ebay though. It's outside Philly and is candy red. Auction ends in a day.
Is this red a stock color? Not sure I've seen that before.
And on a longer shot, anybody in the area know anything the dealer or the car? Thank you.

You will definitely get a lot of advice here so Welcome and here's my 2 cents.

V8 E34's had the infamous Nikasil block issue. I don't know if it is mentioned in the listing as I can't get eBay at my workplace. Google BMW Nikasil for all you need to know on that matter. Personally, and I am sure all who respond here will agree, I would NOT buy an E34 without a thorough pre-Purchase inspection by an experienced BMW guy. There are way too many little things that will kill your pocketbook afterward, no matter how well it looks from afar. That said someone on this forum may know the particular car you are thinking of and have all kinds of info on it. Or better yet they may know of a good 540 for sale from someone here with a great reputation.

Good luck and be careful.

P.S. Nice bike you own, reminds me of my youth owing an 85 Yamaha RZ-500 Kenny Roberts GP replica...damn near killed me.

+1 on Zubbies post, an e34 can kill your pocket in a heart beat especially the V8 540i. I wouldn't buy or bet on an ebay car unless I check it out up-close and personal. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome!

unless you can walk up to the car, and get a PPI done, Id seriously pass. Unless you just cant wait, Id spend some time on here, and find a fellow BF.C member's car up for sale. This way, youd already know alot about its history, and theres a good chance all the small and big things will have been fixed.

The 540 is a great car. But, sooner or later, youll spend $10k+ on it. Dont do like I did, and had to spend all that money when I didnt think I was going to need to.

If your gonna try and fix a downed e34, fix as much as possible before you come close to dd it.

GL!

Thanks all for the advice. Of course you're right about PPI. Sometimes though, you just get an itch and . . . I'll try to wait.
Open to anyone selling a E34 525i or 540i
