its motronic 1.2. If you can get one from a ~1990 750i and the right chip for your car it should work.

Megasquirt = Affordable
Haltech = Amazing / enough $ for a second car lol

I think most of us on here can't really afford a haltech. If you are serious about going standalone talk to Ryan. Knows it in and out and builds a clean unit. Not like some of the crap out there that scares people away from megasquirt. That and he's working on a plug and play program for the M5, mine is under the knife as we speak.

I was just hunting a stock box for the m5. I don't want to go to the touble of engine managment on it but I do have a haltech on my euro 6.
