M52 DME for a S52 Will it work?

Does anyone know if this will work or not. I heard that the car can run with the DME but there must be some type if difference, right? Could I just buy the M3 program and flash this DME to work?

Also can I use an auto engine harness with a manual with no check engine lights?

I'm no expert, but when I blew my M52 motor, I had to use the S52 DME for my S52 motor. I believe they looked a little different. Active Autowerke told me to send in the S52 DME to get flashed.
