car won't jump

hey guys i left my radar detector on for a couple weeks while i was at college and killed my battery. i tried to jump it but all i get is a few clicks. the lights and everything turn on when its hooked up to another car, but it won't turn over. it will click twice and the lights will turn off and it will stop and if i hold it it does it again...is my battery just toast or what? i doubt something just randomly broke for no reason....but it seems like it should jump even if the battery is gone

Give it a few minutes. When my battery completely dies I have to let it "charge" for about 5 minutes before it has enough juice to start.

i tried that..still won't start. should i try and charge it with a charger?

If the battery is 4 year old or older, the full discharge that it experienced may have done it in and now it won't take or hold enough charge to start the car. In that case a replacement battery is the only solution.

i dont think its your alternator cause your car would run still but just die, battery is probably toast
