changing the diff ratio

Hey guys
I have two 3.46 diffs (non-LSD) from an E30 and E36. i have a 3.15 LSD and i want to change the ratio to 3.46.
how can i use those two diffs in order to upgrade my ratio?????

well i think the diffs you have are the small cases from the e30 and the 318i (e36) neither of those will fit the bmedium sized diff in your e36 m3. you will have to either source one already built, build one for yourself or just upgrade to the 3.38 from a 96-99 automatic m3

What kind of E36 did the diff come out of?

the diff i really dont know from wut e36 was out but it fit perfectly on a 1992 325i.....
can i remove the ring and pinion out of the e36 diff and put it in my M3 diff???? is it possible????

If it is a mid-size diff (188) then yes, you can use the ring and pinion in your diff.

Not sure a 3.46 ever came in the E30 or E36 in a 188 case (that the M3 has) - unless it was swapped in.

i have both an e30 3.46 and an e36 3.46 (that was fitted on an e36 325i) but both r non lsds. so u think if they r the 188 case (the e36 one) i can swap the ring and pinion although they r not lsd.
sorry guys for thos but am no expert in the internal structure of diffs and i couldnt find anything that stats that i can do it.
i have the 3.15 final ratio on my M and i want sth that will give me more acceleration off the line in Auto-X.

Have someone that knows BMW diffs look at the E36 diff you have. If it is a medium (188) case then the gear will work. You just have to have someone swap the ring and pinion into your M3 diff. You can still use your M3 LSD.

I am almost positive that the E30 is the small case so that will not work.
