Anyone have patchy dulling of the paint after using magnetic signs/racing numbers on your BMW? I have been using the magnetic numbers for autocrossing and now have some dull spots where the magnets were. Only been leaving them on for 4-5 hrs at a time...
If so, how do you polish them out?

Have you tried a Porter Cable?

I have a PC and Menzerna Power Gloss and Intensive Polish.

Seems to to the trick on anything from oxidation to scratches.

Yes I have the PC. I haven't tried anything abrasive to polish it, just Zymol HD Cleanse with the PC. I would be willing to try the polish you mentioned. Where do you find it? Hopefully Online somewhere...

Much Thanks!

Yep autogeek is a good place.

Try Intensive Polish with a Orange Pad first... if it still does not come out try a yellow pad.

Again work it in good... a good 2-3 minutes on a 2' X 2' area. Mist the pad midway through with water and the polish will come back out. Literraly work it in until you can barely see the polish (light haze).

Also just get Intensive Polish... Power Gloss only if the scratches dont come out.

Also if you are interested Menzerna makes a great product for sealant and a light polish. Its called Acrylic Jacket... I have used it for > 1 years and it is amazing. Saves you time if you are looking for a great 1 step product.

Plus it lasts for ~ 6 months!

I'm curious about why AutoGeek doesn't seem to carry Menzerna Full Molecular or Acrylic Jacket. Their web site claims that Menzerna doesn't make sealants. I've read very good things about FMJ, but I guess I'll have to buy it elsewhere.

Nope. I believe Proper Auto Care just rebrands something and slaps a Menzerna label on it. Anything outside of the polishes is actually a slap on Menzerna label. Basically, if it isn't made in Germany and doesn't have a Menzerna part number, it isn't *really* Menzerna.

Can't recall offhand about the Menzerna Wax that Autogeek carries. That might actually be a true Menzerna product that isn't a polish.

Are you saying that Menzerna Full Molecular Jacket is not actually a Menzerna product??

I'd REALLY like to hear AutoGeek's opinion on this.

most likely the spots are just micromarring/hazing. Any OTC polish will do without buying a DA.
Do you have any pics?

Forget HD Cleanse, its overpriced and if you knew what it really was you would be pissed spending the $$

I didn't mean to sound critical of AutoGeek. I've purchased from them several times and am very happy with their products and service. More than anything, I'm curious about FMJ. I've ordered some from another vendor and would just like to know if the stuff is really made by Menzerna or not.

Whatever the case, I've read glowing reviews of it on the E46 Fanatics and Autopia forums.

FMJ is great... so is Acrylic Jacket.

In todays litigous world I find it hard to believe that car care places will make a special formulation and place it in a container with a Menzerna label.

Here is a good link on the Acrylic Jacket.

FMJ is not made by Menzerna, it is a licensed product by CMA. For sealants try CG JS109.

FMJ is a good product, there are better out there.

Thanks for the information, FMINUS. By "there are better out there", how do you mean? In terms of durability, ease of removal, etc.?

I agree there are better out there.

And FMINUS I really respect your work... great job on all your details! ;)

However...

I dont want to spend 10 hours detailing a car.

I want it to last ~ 6 Months.

I want a reaonably priced product.

The AJ and FMJ do fit the billing.

The CG JS109 looks interesting, and I definitely respect the recommendation, coming from you. But, see as how I just spent fifty bucks on the FMJ, looks like I'll be using it for a while. ;)

Ha, ha. Well, if it's part of your agreement as a distributor for the manufacturer, then you can do whatever you want. Which seems to be the case with Proper Auto Care.

From what I understand, there's a good number of products out there that are really just relabeled Chemical Guys products.
