Factory Alarm, not working?

someone broke into my car 2 nights ago. and the alarm didn't set off. my window was smashed. are they linked to the alarm. thanks. and how much do one of these replacements go for?

My factory one was pretty beat so I just installed a Viper 1002, much nicer and it was $120 off ebay.

i think it's possible, and folks, please correct me if i'm wrong, but just because you have a remote with keyless entry - doesn't mean you have an alarm.

That is pretty cheap. I know that vipers are good.
Was it easy to install?

Installation wasn't too bad, I did it over a couple days. The factory alarm has a plug that has some wires you need, it has power, switched power, left and right door pins, and door lock and unlock. The only other things you need to do are tap a wire into the hood pin wire, and wire the starter kill and parking light flash.

Hood pin wire is a small wire under the passenger side, you can track it from the hood pin through the rubber grommet in the firewall. The starter wire (for starter kill) is right on the steering column, you just need to find the wire that shows 12v while you're cranking the car. Parking light wires are in a plug by the steering column, one for left and one for right.

The parking lights and door pin inputs need to be diode isolated, the alarm comes with one diode isolater and you can get more diodes at radio shack for about $1 for the door pin inputs http://www.the12volt.com/diodes/diodes.asp The one that comes with the alarm is big enough to run the parking lights.

I also added a glass break sensor for about $20, I'll probably add a tilt sensor too. (You can plug 2 additional sensors into the alarm)

im about to get the 600 dollar remote start with the gps-ready viper or clifford thing.. can it be installed? or will the ews get in the way?
