BKR6E's

Make sure to gap them properly.

Is it possible to get them pre-gapped?
If not, what is the proper gap?

They come "pre-gapped" but often they are off. Pick up a gapping tool for a buck and check them.

Most N/A cars have a ~0.043" or ~1.1mm gap, but you should double check the manual.

Any thoughts on the Bosch IR Fusion plugs?

Alot of money for no benefit.

There really isn't anything magic beyond a regular $1.50 copper plug.

Platinum and iridium plugs last a LOT longer...

Does anyone know the proper gap for the BKR6E plugs? Right now they are gapped to .03, and according to advanced auto, they should be gapped between .03-.032.

look under the hood it should tell you the gap. I think .032 sounds right, .043 is too big.
Edit: it's .035

If you drive alot that's fine. For me the coppers are a once a year occurrence, and about a three month tenure on my turbo car.

There's nothing wrong with a larger gap so long as the car runs on it without misfiring. Closing the gap reduces kernel size and reduces misfiring in really dense mixtures. It also reduces the spark energy because less current is needed to bridge the gap.

He asked about the proper gap and i told him whats recommended in the manual, not what can/maybe/should work. Some cars/plugs will work with a bigger gap and some will misfire.

No need to get defensive, my post doesn't say you are wrong, just that it is possible to run a wider gap, and sometimes more beneficial.

The OEM bosch four pong platinum plugs work great for me.

My original set were toast at 80,000 so I think replacing them at 50,000
is about right.

Best Copper - NGK BKR6E's
Best Iridium - Denso Iridium IK22's

BKR6E's

Make sure to gap them properly.
Both of those come with the proper gap of .032".

It is .032".

dumb question, but the plugs I got are gapped at .035. how do I close the gap without breaking the electrode without using a spark plug tool?
I have tried bending them, but it doesnt work.
You need to tap them on a hard surface. But you will need a spark plug tool to measure them anyway. A ruler or straight edge does not suffice.

Thanks. I figured it out right after. I do have the gap measuring tool though.

You can hold the tool in your left hand and tap the plug on the tool. Just don't miss. :)
