Hey fellow E36 M3 owners!
I have a small issue, i recently did a new water pump, a new t stat and aluminuim tstat housing. Now the car runs great and the temp guage sits right in the middle where its supposed to and does not move. Only thing that conserns me is taht after i did all of that i've been touching the vanos unit and the metal support where the headlights have screws in it to attach to the frame. The vanos unit is REALLY hot, I can only hold my hand on it for like 2 seconds after the cars been driven for around 20 mins then i have to move my hand. and that support that the lights are screwed onto, that support gets really hot also. The support is right on top of the radiator also just to let yo guys know where im talking about. Please tell me if i should worry or if i should jus chill out because im freaking out!!!!!
Thanks!

Anything attached to the engine that's metal will be too hot to touch right away.
Try touching the oil housing or even the alternator.

I think you are referring to the nose for the hl's?
That will be hot too. The radiator is next to it so it's going to pickup radiant heat.
Just not as hot.
