Black soot on my rear bumper

Just curious what all this black soot coming from my exhaust and sticking to my rear hatch is and if I should be worried.

It's (usually) a sign of burning oil. Now burning *some* oil is normal for various reasons.

Have you been keeping track of your oil levels?

My Type R would burn 1 quart of oil per 10 gallons of gas on the track -- not hard to imagine considering it saw 7000-8400 for 30 minute sessions -- and it would leave a similar deposit on the bumper.

if the car is running too rich it will do the same thing

black smoke = fuel
blue smoke = oil
