Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has a copy of the Car & Driver 535i review from 1989 that they could e-mail me?

Thanks,

Cary

There's something to be said when a car's basic lineage does not change for that long. The 3.5 is just one of those cars.

Actually, the M5 isn't quite 3.6 liters so it is a 3.5 too. :-)

Buying a faster more powerful upgraded version of the M30, sell out!

3535cc's, ITB's, equal length headers. etc.......... its an M30 in a fancy dress :stickoutt

The E60? I'd be embarrassed to include that abortion in the same lineage as Irina.

Plus neither engine is a 3.5. The M30's a 3.4, the N54 is a 3.0.

Ya, I was thinkin that 7 years ago a M5 or E55 would run 70K. ... 7 years ago!? That was 2000...! Prices for out the box new cars is nuts.

Being honest about it, the M30's lineage was that it was a great engine for it's 30 year production run. It works great in the 535i, but when you compare it to the newer M5x engines, it is obvious why it had to be replaced. Emission, smoothness, gas mileage, and required maintenance are all far superior on the M5x engines. It is just to bad that BMW went to turbo's instead of punching out the current engine to 3.5l which would have gotten them right at 300hp without the additional complexity.

This might have something to do with it. The US dollar will be like the Peso at this rate. This is the dollar to euro chart.
