I’ve searched every avenue to mankind (that I know of) to get this information and I can’t get my fingers on it.

I want to raise the entire front end and get both sides under jack stands.

I look under the front and all I see is a large black panel that covers just about everything up to the firewall area.

There’s a small cut out in one of the black panels and there’s a threaded bolt. I know this is not the lift point.

Does anyone know where I should place the floor jack to raise the entire front end?

Pictures or a detailed diagram from a service manual would be real helpful.

Thanks,
Steve

Maybe use the rear jack point to lift one side at a time and place the jack stand under the front jack point?

I would do a two step process and lift from the two front lift points. That way, you have protection in the event that one fails and you are lifting from the factory lift point.

so, has anyone used a central jack point in the front??

There isn't anything you will be able to use to slide under the car front that I was able to find to use as a central jack pint. The only central jack point is at the rear diff.

There is a bladder/balloon that slips under the car and is inflated by the exhaust.
This is used for changing flats..

Try a Google search..

With a flat jack pad (not a cup) and a floor jack I raise one side at a time from the jack points on either side (near the front doors). I've not used stands on my E91, but typically, I look for the main ribs running front to back coming away from the fire wall toward the back. At that point, the rib and floor pan are rigid enough for jack stands. Use a carpet scrap to protect the undercoating.

Again, I admit I've not put my car on stands, I'm mostly describing how I jacked the car to put my winter tires on.

Good luck and be careful.

I knew I should've taken a picture of the underside the last time I had my friend's 335i up in the air...

I can't entirely recall if this is covered up underneath the undertray but I suspect it is. If so, you need to remove the undertray first. See the diagram in the link? See part no. 5, the V-shaped "rod", and the tip of the V where it's marked with 6 and 7 in a circle? That's where the cross brace is bolted to the subframe, part no. 1 in the diagram. Where the three meet (the tip of the V, where it's bolted to part no. 1) is the STRONGEST part of the car. That is your ideal center lift point up front.

I use homemade car ramps made of 2x10's stacked 5 high in a stepped configuration. I simply drive up them. You can also use Rhino ramps but some people have problems with the front rubber flap hitting them and pushing them forward.
