I was browsing ebay today, and found these:

In case the link doesn't work, they are ford 19lb design III fuel injectors with a Bosch part number 0280155700 and Ford Part #F4SE-A1B.

In doing searches (yes I did!), seems some folks have had good success with swapping the older style bosch injectors with a newer ford part. The recommended part number from five-O is:
PART #
0280155710-F6VE
Design III Upgrade

I'm tempted to just buy the ebay ones I've linked to for the asking $109, given that they are a newer injector style with the 4 nozzle spray head design.

I've run cleaner through the fuel system a few times, and find that not much has changed, so maybe my existing ones are fine, but with 170,000 km on the clock (and how much gunk build up I found in the intakes when doing a recent manifold re-seal) I'm tempted to try some of these reconditioned fuel injectors, given the comparatively low price.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Those are a common swap on M20 cars to replace the stock 14.5 lb/hr injectors that are pretty much maxed out even on that little old engine. I have no idea what flowrate the stock 540 injectors have, but be aware that unless the rates are identical your instantaneous MPG gauge as well as the OBC fuel consumption functions will be substantially off.
They'll fit, I'm sure, but I doubt you'll find too many others who have done this swap.
