View Full Version : Gorilla Wheel Locks - I'd like a rough show of hands
umnitza

I'm trying to organize a special for Gorilla wheel locks.
Would like to see a show of hands...
Also, have the following questions:
1) Are e36 bolts the same as those used for E46 wheels?
2) Are other models the same? Hard to imagine that BMW would spend money on the bolts for different cars.
3) What would be a good price for me to shoot for?
I'm thinking something like $30-40 for wheel locks.

what kind of lock is it..? Like I had the Mcguard locks with the swirl pattern. But they suck coz the key would always warp if the locks are on too tight. So i took them off for good.

This is an individualized lock.
Each key has a serial code. I'll post pics in a bit.

im trying to figure out if i need locks.. the last one gave me a headache u wouldnt believe when it froze and noone could get it out. I spend 3 days drilling it out with a kit I had to borrow from MacGuard. Then theyre keys are so weak I warped them recently again. coz of their stupid swirl pattern.. Mcguard locks.. save urself the headache.. these Gorilla locks look much safer. But for me.. the car is never left outside and theres noone fitting a left under the car.. so do I need a set... I guess it depends on what papa Matt can do.

i don't know the logistics of this, but would it be difficult to have an option to include an extra key with the order? that is, to have one concealed in the car in case i need to use the spare tire, and the other one in the tool box in the garage. i suppose it'd be just as easy to order a spare once the package arrives, but i thought i'd ask anyway. ;)
COUNT ME IN if the price is below $40 and it can handle the torque. (i.e., i am ignorant of locks, would they be able to handle the 75-80 ft-lb of torque without deforming the key pattern?) :love1

i realized something. will the cone seat bolt shape fit ssr gt3 wheels? i do not know because they are in transit at this time. i ask this because they are sending new bolts with the wheels, which leads me to wonder if this is because the stock cone seat bolts won't fit. :dunno

Excellent news so far.
I can probably get them for $30 + shipping to your door.
But we'll need 20-30 sets, 50 folks are $27+shipping.
All the bolts are custom built at this point - so it's about 2-3 weeks.

I'll probably be in also. Still waiting for my wheels from Howitt group buy. E36 if it matters and I'm not sure if the wheels will matter. Definately put me on the list for now because I'll want new bolts with my new wheels. One question: is this one per wheel? I've been planning onreplacing them all.

Count me in for a set. E36 M3 with OEM M3 LTW wheels.

I'm interested in this buy as well. However I have a question.
I have 5mm spacers on the front wheels now to deal with my PSS-9 kit. So I'm currently using longer bolts in the front then the on the back. Can we get a mixed sized set, or does anyone know if I can use longer then OEM bolts on my rear wheels if I'm not using spacers?

Ok more details are alive and well.
The bolts LOOK GREAT!!!!
They have a chrome top but can be ordered with any finish custom.
However, I have to order them in quantities of 30 sets for a specific finish.
So, we all have to decide that we will get a polished bolt or a stainless steel bolt.
Currently, the price sits @ 35 + shipping for the locks. With 50 orders, I can do $30.
They come in standard length (I measured it with my own bolt).
LOOK AT THE PICTURE ABOVE. The BOLT at the top 17179 is standard length.
We can get ALL the other lengths as well.
I'll be setting up a pay to account but I need a show of hands of who is in now that prices and specific setups are known.
I saw these in person and here's what you get:
4 LOCKING BOLTS (you can keep your existing ones)
1 Key.
If you want matching bolts that go along with the locks they are $2.25 each.
But I need to know in advance.
tasty
04-02-2003, 04:53 PM
I'm OK with either finish but I think I prefer the stainless because it would probably match the hypersilver dark wheels I'm getting. So another $36 for 16 matching bolts? Is that worth it because I haven't priced them out yet. I'm interested in the package deal I guess.

I'm in for either finish, and I'd like to get the matching lugbolts, too.
Standard length is fine, since I'm running M Doublespoke II's for the winter and M Doublespoke Forged for the summer, and I don't plan on a bbk in the near future...

Count me in for one set, E36 M3. I prefer stainless, BUT I can live with either finish, whichever will get us the deal faster. :)
I will need two standard length and two 5mm longer to match my 5mm spacers.
I don't need matching lugbolts.
I am also curious about what clor0x asked, about getting a spare key.

Ok, final details. The links are on my site located here:
CLICK THIS (http://www.umnitza.com/new/loader.html?page=locks)
We can do chrome (that's a standard look) or non-polished.
Standard or Chrome = $35 for 4 locks and a key shiped if we get 10-40 people.
Standard or Chrome = $30 for 4 locks and a key shipped if we get 50-60 people.
Inside each package that you receive, you'll have a serial number, a code - call the number - and via CC spend $8-9 for an additional key.
These locks are lifetime guaranteed.
They can be also in satin finish, aluminum brush finish, or any other finish. However, and this is the caveat.
I need a MINIMUM of 10 people to agree on a particular finish for me to order them.
As soon as I hit 20 people, I place the order.
Anticipated order placement is 2 weeks from today, with order fulfillment 1 week to 2 weeks later.
If this goes well, I'll begin holding these more frequently or have a running special on them.
These are the SAME locks as BavAuto sells.

04-08-2003, 09:45 AM
How do we specify finish and if we want the matching bolts for it?
EvilM3
04-08-2003, 10:38 AM
So is
E46 standard = non chrome/polished
E46 non-standard = chrome???
umnitza
04-08-2003, 11:19 AM
EvilM3 - it's the reverse.
They standard nickle plate, and chrome the bolts.
non-standard would be brushed finish or something else.
Bolts are $2 a piece, so you'll need 16 of those - since they weigh about 4lbs, you'll have to add $10 for shipping. You'll have to purchase those separately - though I can supply them with this group purchase.

Hi Matt
I'm ignorant, so bear with me. :95 :) Two questions:
1) If we choose Other, it then says "#Gorilla+Wheel+Locks+OTHERLENGHTTHREAD+Standard."
I will need mixed lengths (two regular length, two 5mm longer). Since it doesn't give us a list of choices, will there be a textbox during checkout where we specify exactly what lengths and finish we need?
2) I understand the part about minimum of 10 people for a particualr finish. But does that also apply to mixed length sets--if there aren't 10 people ordering mixed length sets, then we be limited to only buying regular length sets?
Thanks
umnitza
04-08-2003, 12:15 PM
ironically, no it doesn't.
Those bolts are in stock. It's the different lengths.
O and thanks for pointing out to me that I can't spell @ 3am;)
I hate to say it, but your order is so custom, I'm not sure if it's possible to mix and match like that. I think you'll want to get two sets one long and one short, then hope someone else wants the same setup.
I can bend, but that is too hard to do.
Also, the checkout will have a text box:D

I've now spoken to 4 discount tire locations here.
EACH one charges $30-45 + tax.
So, I guess the only thing that I'm offering is convenience of delivery to your door
So, that being said, if you want to get them from me, that's fine.
I just spoke to the distribution hub and I *might* get them down to $25 shipped, but for $10 bucks, it's just not worth it.

We are the "cheapest" er...most inexpensive place I know of.
We buy in bulk;)

daz, we've got lots of locks in stock.
Today we sold out of bolts.
But we'll be ordering more:) They are perhaps the hardest to find and everyone wants them. We waited 1 month for a 10 sets, and finally got them in and they were gone in 5 days.

Hey!
I want to pick up a set of the Gorilla's to go on my 2004 330Ci. I'm running 17in Breyton Visions. Any insight on what I need? I'm living in a city now and really don't want to go out side to find my wheels, well, not there. Lemme know!

YES!!! They are in.
Forgot to mention that.
Two caveats:
1) They are $3 a bolt, and yes, you can order 16 total.
2) They require a key, which is $7
Shipping will be about $8.
