Evening guys:

I just purchasd a 1999 540i sport with 53,000 miles, unbelievable car. I had a 740il, much different vehicle, the 3:15 rear coupled with the steptronic in sport mode is a real hussler, i think it has some software upgrades also, what a screamer.

have herd from some that these cars were very close to the same thing as the M5 bt with the 4.4 in lieu of the M motor. I've been told certainly not as fast but comperable handling.

anyone no the real scoop on a 1999 540i sport comparison to a 1999 M5.

To keep it short, they're way, way, way different cars. I love my 540 Sport, but I wouldn't flatter it by saying that it's almost an M5. I've driven a couple, and my ride doesn't compare. Kind of like Steve Austin before Oscar Goldman's boys did all the bionic upgrades. How's that for analogy? Do a little searching, you'll find a thread that goes over the differences. :cool
