You might search the E36 archives of the notorious bimmer.org board. I've seen lots of caliper-painting stuff over there in the past.

Instead of painting, have you thought of polishing them? My room mate polished his calpiers on his 2000 WS6 Firebird and it looks pretty sweet (especially with his polished wheels!). Oh well, just a thought.

Idea #1: Use the Brake Caliper Laquer... not the High Temp Engine paint... (you'll thank me later when you don't have to repaint the calipers ever six months or try and clean them)
Idea #2: Dedicate at least 3-4 hours to do it. Took me 3-4 hours just to do the front calipers... but I did 3 coats on each side.
Idea #3: After painting the caliper with the laquer, I heard you can go over the ///M with whatever color nailpolish you want and it should stay in place... I haven't tried this yet.
Idea #4: Don't paint your brakes white... these are BMW brakes we're talking about here... they'll be dirty as soon as you turn the car on.

Hi xjeeper,
I understand from the E36 M5 digest, that the high heat from braking will eventually destroy down the paint.
Powder coating with-stands the prolong build up of the high heat and stands up to lookin good over time.

I know that folia tec has some and it is about $50 for enought to paint 3 sets. It is the brush on that kevler was talking about. I haven't done it but plan on doing this in the spring/summer.

I painted my 540 in ///M colors. Now just a small M but a stripes. I used a really high temp (1500F) paint but they came out matte. Still looks good though. My M3 I just painted the claiper blue and use red pads. It looks cool too.
The cleaning took me about 40 min per caliper. use a good metal brush. Lots of simple green and water.
I'm in the process of building a web site. I'll post them as soon as I get the site up.
