I have a 98 528 and I want to put the new clear/red tail lights on my car. If I buy the 2001 tailights, will they fit perfectly on the car or will I have to modify it somehow to make it fit?
Or does anyone know where I can get the right tail lights wo I wouldn't have to modify anything?
Thanks in advance!!!

The 2001+ taillights (LED's) require some body modifications to get them to fit. You need to dremel 2 holes in the sheet metal, and then make sure everythig seals up tight so no water can get through into the truck and taillight assembly.
For a straight swap use non LED clear taillights, the same as on the 2000 M5. The part number is: 63 21 6 912 425 (L) and 63 21 6 912 426 (R)

You could replace your stock tail lights with Hella clear/red tail lights. Simply add an amber bulb for the turn signal and its a direct replacement, no modifications needed.
