Hi,
I've never had an ipod. Ordered the 6FL option on my 335xi because I knew I would eventually purchase an ipod, and everyone says the integration is pretty good.
With the 'new' ipods out now, like the nano+video --- is the interface cable the same, and bottom line ------ will it 'work' with the 6fl option on my '08 335xi?
Thanks!

Im going to buy the iphone soon and wanted to know how is yours intergrated with your ride. Do you have the BMW IPod option or some type of aftermarket assembly? please advice on best option. Thank you in advance.

Ours has the 6FL option so the iPhone connects via the dock connector in the center armrest for the music function and via bluetooth for the phone function. Works seamlessly.

Yes. Same interface and same results.
Other posters were replying re:iPhone so I wanted to confirm for you that the new generation iPods work fine with 6FL as well. Same old dock connector so no change.

Can you watch videos from the ipod on the NAV screen? I don't have NAV, so just wondering...

Only if you are driving at 60+mph :D.

The iPhone works excellent with the 6FL. However you'll want to upgrade to the newest 6FL cable so it charges your iPhone. I'll be posting a thread regarding this tomorrow.

So I am thinking about getting an iphone to use with the 6FL.
Can you plug in your phone to the ipod/USB cable AND use the bluetooth function at the same time? (i.e. if you are driving listening to tunes, will a phone call coming in or going out be possible without having to disconnect from the ipod cable)? Maybe a dumb question, but the reason I ask is that a friend of mine just got the iphone and he has a MB CLK550 with bluetooth and he cannot listen to tunes and use the bluetooth phone function simultaneously with his iphone.
Also, TyVil, what is this new upgraded cable that will charge the iPhone???
Thanks

Can you do this with an iPhone without a BMW even? I would think the iphone would suspend playing music while you take a call, but maybe Apple doesn't care about enforcing good etiquette ;).

If you are listening to tunes the music shuts off and your call comes in. It's that way regardless if you're using the iphone plugged in or another bluetooth phone and have an iPod plugged in.
The new upgraded cable looks the same as the old 6FL cable but will charge the iPhone.
I have the part number I'll post it later tonight.
LMK if you have any other questions.

Wait I need a new cable? Why is that different? It charges my new Video Ipod fine. I was wondering if the phone would work.

refer to my previous post. It's clear; if you want to charge your iPhone you need the latest 6fl cable. I'll get the part number later tonight
