So, I took my car in yesterday as I had a bad wiper relay and asked them to drive the car and listen for a vibration noise in the rear. He told me that it is the rear deck and they have ordered me a new one, NICE! I figured they would say we don't hear anything.... Also, he says they are on back-order which probably means others are having similar problems.. I'll update this whenever I get it fixed.

Do you mean the "hat shelf"?

Not sure, I asked the service advisor, he described it as the rear shelf, so I assume that large shelf behind the rear headrest's and below the rear window. He wasn't sure as the tech ordered the parts and said thats what it needed.

I'm sure you were surprised as it usually goes like this......."Customer states there is a rattle coming from the rear shelf." And that is followed, by, "Tech drove the car and was unable to duplicate customers complaint!" So, good for you that they acknowledged and ordered the right parts to fix it.

I'm taking my vert in tomorrow for the third attempt to have them solve a window rattle. They acknowledge it's there, they just have no clue how to fix it.

I just checked my e-mail, they sent me a whole invoice, here is what it said about noise. Confused, I thought he said rear deck, but this says center console storage compartment... Not sure that will fix it.. but will give it a try, I have a feeling they have seen this before and are trying it first.

Hopefully that will solve the problem. It's hard to diagnose rattles behind you. Hopefully the rear center console is the cause and once replaced the rattle be a thing of the past. I once had a MB with a rattle in the rear. They told me they actually put one of the technicians in the trunk, closed him in with a flashlight and took the car and him for a ride to figure out where the rattle came from. Can't remember where it was, but they did fix it.

I had the same rear deck rattle problem. Fixed it myself by wedging some small folded pieces of paper along the side of the deck where it meets the side of the car (my rattle was coming from the drivers side). Not a very high tech fix but it worked and is not visible.

That's interesting. I also have a buzzing sound from the rear, driver's side. So far, the tech says they can't hear it and can't duplicate it. Defiintely is louder and more noticable on concrete freeway, over some of the bumps on the road, and when loud diesel trucks are next to the car (or someone with one of the modded exhausts). It can get loud, but usually it's not.

Have to go to the dealer today to take a shop foreman for a drive. I hope that it rattles/buzzes loud when he's in the car.

I have a constant vibration from the drivers side rear when accelerating even the slightest bit between 1800-2200 rpms. I can repeat in every gear every time. I hate it. Going to have to spend some time back there w/ my friend driving the car to find it.
