i've heard that if your installing gas struts, you shouldnt put oil in the strut housing. but i've also read a thread where someone installing koni gas struts added oil in the housing. im about to install my koni gas struts, should i put oil in the housing?:help thanks

what does the manufacture's instruction say? that's all you need to know.

Use 50 cc of oil for heat transfer unless the manufacturer specifically says not to. If there are no specific instructions regarding using oil, then the general rule of thumb is if the bottom of the insert is sealed, use oil. If the bottom of the strut insert has exposed screws (such as Bilsteins) don't use oil. Oil can seep in thru the seals over time and cause them to leak.

thanx, i believe that the konis are sealed.

I used oil with my Konis. The Konis are sealed. The shocks are inserted into a sleeve with a threaded cap which makes up the whole assembly. Go by the sugessted amount of oil

whats the suggested amount of oil? i kno i've seen it somewhere, but i dont remenber where.

Just put a little in there and drop the shock in. If some seeps out, it's too much. You can always poor a little out.

thanks... i found where i had seen it before, it is in the Bentley manual. it says to add 30ml of motor oil.
