Yesterday it happened. My parents called me and told me that my car sold. It was in Autotrader for 3 days and the first person that came to look at it bought it. They even paid my asking price. $6000 its sad to see it gone but i got 3 good years out of it. Also being all the way across the country it made my sense to keep it. It was a 1992 318is with 152k miles on it. I cant believe i got the $6000 for it. Here some pictures of it
When i got it.

thats sad to see man... I parted with my 318i 3.5 years ago and still miss it to this day. You got a killer sell on that car. I let mine go for $7500 back then and mine was a 1995 w/ 85k miles.

Dunno if we're talking about the same one but there was, till this morning, a '97 328iS auto w/ 117k miles for $4,300. It looked amazing, and had had its head replaced due to a cracked original head and lots of recent maintenance. It sold this morning after he posted it at 9 pm last night. The owner told me he wasn't going to be available to show the car till 7pm tonight. Sure enough, he e-mails me this morning and says, "Sorry, the car sold to the first person who saw it this morning." :rolleyes /rant

was it blue with tinted windows? I may have gotten the mileage mixed up in my head. I was thinking about buying it too, but I really don't have the finances for another car I can't drive anyway (no car on campus at UMD).

You definetly pocketed nicely on that, but damn that car was nice.
Any plans for future cars?

That's a concept my parents' don't seem to understand. I told them I was going to put a for sale sign in my car with a high price listed on it and they flipped out. They couldn't understand why I would work so hard to buy the car only to put it up for sale. My answer? Everything (with the exception of certain sentimental objects) has a price. If someone wants to pay way more than the car's worth, more power to them. It's not like an e36 vert is an exceptionally rare car... I chickened out and didn't put the car up for sale to please them anyway. It's not like it would ever sell for >$7k (my target price).
I basically paid for the car with that mentality. I buy stuff from various shows, yard sales, and eBay (rare) cheaply, then resell it to turn a quick profit. It works great 95% of the time. Every so often I'll screw up and break even or lose money.

Hopefully it will still be up. Like i said im in philadelphia for college my parents sold he car for me. All my mom said is the guy showed up, drove it, looked at all the receipts for the stuff, wrote the check and drove off. She also said that he had something planed for the car. Not really sure what that means.

Right now nothing. Being all the way across the country for college it doesnt make much sense to have a car. I have my old FZR for when im back at home and that shouldnt loose much value. Hopefully when i get out of college i would like to get myself into and m3 coupe or and m coupe.

When I said pocketed, I didn't necessarily mean profitted. I just meant that he got a nice amount of money for it. Sorry that that came off confusingly.

My parents already have cashed the check. It has been no scam, just great luck and getting a buyer who had no idea the value of the car, or maybe he did and just wanted it really bad.
