2002 M3 for $20,000 anyone ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2407836068&category=6131
Is this a scam or what ? This guy wants to use some unheard-of escrow company to hold the $9000 deposit.
Thoughts ?
$9000 for a deposit, it's a scam
check out this guy's other auction...all keyless entry...
maybe the car is stolen ???
or his feebacks are faked?

He ended the auction early, after only a few hours. The strange thing is he said in the text "The asking price is is : 20000 usd" and not "The reserve is set at 20000usd"
I doubt it was a scam. The guy has been on ebay for 3.5 years and has 99% positive feedback rating. Who knows though, I've heard of far more reputable sellers waking up one day and deciding to turn to the dark side, rip people off for tens of thousands, and go to Mexico...
even he is trying to scam....make the price more resonable...:evil2

Probably not a scam. The seller accepts payment through escrow. I've seen on roadfly once a guy sold his Ferrari for $30k because he's getting divorced and he doesn't want his wife to get much money out of it. I think I called him an hour too late because some guy already came and picked it up.

'Escrow' Companies are not always what they seem. I've (and also some friends on ebay) have gotten emails from 'Sellers'.
What they do is take the Ebay ID of some other legit Seller. They list or send emails out and set up fake escrow company website.
I even had a friend who received URL for an escrow site plastered with the GE logo which made it seem more legit.
What they do is then use the website to cull / take in all your credit card and or banking info and take your money.
Be careful all--
Cheers,
Andrew :pimpflash

it could be a scam, it might not be. personally I think he got in over his head and wanted to try and play his cards by setting it at 20k and getting people so interested they keep on bidding up until 50-60k. but thats just what I would do

Here's a nice one, but AutoTrader, not ebay. A friend of mine found this with a net search after locating a particularly sweet deal on an M3 at autotrader. Same deal: Put $x000 in an escrow account, and then I will get you the car and we can work out the rest of the payment. Moral of the story: Don't be a dumb ass.

How long does it take to go down to CarMax and sell a 2002 M# for $40K?
Why doe EBay at $20k? Wait for bid ending and then waiting for buy to pay. I am also guessing that there is another wait with an escrow service too.
If you get scamed by this then you deserve it. It will be a lesson you will never forget!

Especially since you can get a E36 M3 legitimately for 20k. :buttrock

My mom told me she saw an ebay/escrow scam on Oprah a few weeks ago. It had to do with the sale of a 2001 M5. I think I would be VERY cautious!!! I would not buy any car without seeing it in person first.....I've learned from experience that my dad has had with buying cars off Ebay.

Also, isnt that interior picutre from the CSL? I thought only the CSL had that suede, skinny 3-spoke wheel.
I like how the 1st picture is normal size and the rest are tiny...
