M50 engine OBDI car keeps stalling at idle or near idle, by stalling i mean the engine and all the powered devices in my car turn off (including my lights and stereo system) for a split second and then everything turns on again except the engine doesn't always turn back on and i will have to start it up again. What do you guys think the problem could be? I will tell you what it's not. I have checked the alterator, the battery, the throttle body, and i doubt it would be the ignition coils or fuel injection system because it is seperate for each cylinder right? they wouldn't all go out at the same time right? Any ideas on where i should check next would be much appreciated...

Possible DME problem? Perhaps water got into your DME compartment which has caused all sorts of electrical problems. I would think it is an electrical gremlin that you have in your car. I'm no expert though, but just my thoughts.

I had the same problem with my car so I took it to an independant BMW shop and they fixed it for me. Have you recently change the spark plugs to ones othe than the OEM plugs? If you have (I put 4+ platnum plugs in my car) you need to change the plugs back to the stock plug. This will fixe your problem. Please let me know if this helps.

check the computer, but first i would check you're fuses... damn gremlins
sounds electrical or id wonder about fuels issues.

I wouldnt even bother with a fuse since if it was a blown fuse, your car wouldn't even start back up.

yeah it's not fuses and the dme looks fine, i haven't upgraded my spark plugs so that shouldn't be the case unless i need to get some new ones....
why does this feel like an episode of "House"?
