So today I am washing the '07 328 and, as I step back to admire the lines, I notice the exhaust pipes just sticking out there. Is there a source for a great looking set of tail pipe extensions that contribute to the looks of this car? I do not want anything at all like the fart cans on the rice rockets running around.

TIA,
Gary

Do you have chrome tips on? They add a nice visual touch.

Those DO look nice. Exactly what I was talking about. Thanks.

Right now, the car is standard with straight steel pipes exiting the rear. I will look into these.

Yeah, well worth it IMO. I'll try to post a better pic later tonight if you'd like.

Or just go to your dealer and buy them. I understand the only change for the 2008 328i is they added the exhaust tips :D.

The dealer inluded the chrome tips in my purchase for free, and it looks awesome. But honestly i don't even remember what the regular tip looks like.

Thank you for the photo. It is always nicer to see something installed versus just the product photo.

Are these aftermarket or did you buy them from BMW?

Thank you,
Gary

the chrome exhaust tip sleeves are available through your BMW dealer parts department. about $75 a pair. they slip over the steel exhaust pipe and are held in place by a set screw.

i have them on my 2007. they really improve the look of the car.

Dealer installed at delivery. I negotiated them as part of the price for the delivered car (Along with fog lights, floor mats and wheel locks). I believe they are 58$ Canadian at my dealer, definitely cheaper in the US. I wouldn't bother going aftermarket for those to save a few bucks. I also installed the front chrome kidney grill that comes only on the 335. It looks much nicer IMO than the standard black. Got my sister to pick it up from a NJ dealer on her way up here, cost me 90$ including taxes. Here it's ~120$ CAN.

That's awesome. I always thought that they were an eyesore. I'll get them this weekend.

My suggestion is go back to your sales person where you bought the car. I always get the chrome tips thrown in for free. Since you didn't ask initially ask now or see if he can get them at dealer cost.

I noticed the unfinished looking tips on the 328i when I bought my 2006 330i. For a car that has all the techno gizmos you could want, why in the world would BMW put Ford Escort looking tail pipes on the car?

Not all people like chrome I guess, and I've never seen a Ford Escort with pipes similar to a 3 series ;).

i also can't believe BMW would deliver a car that can exceed $40k MSRP with "unadorned" stainless pipes either. i am pleased with the chrome sleeves.

mryakan: Funny that your dealer's name is Otto's. There's a highly regarded dealer here in PA also called Otto's. Somehow your dealer being named Otto's seems more appropriate though!

:D, That is the name of the original (now deceased) owner. Never met the guy, but he is German I believe (or maybe Swiss). Still a family owned joint, well run.

Interesting. My xi came with the exhaust tips, (carpet) floor mats, wheel locks. I assumed those would be normal factory equipment. Ditto for the fog lamps.

I do need to buy some rubber floor mats before winter. Anyone know of a good source?

I also installed the front chrome kidney grill that comes only on the 335.

I have the chrome grilles and want to black them out :-)

You can buy them after market - how hard are they to change?

323 comes low on options to keep cost down as an entry level.

BMW original mats are best although there is a place that always advertises them in Road&Track mag. They put rubbers for me and I'll leave em all season long, easier to clean.

The grills are so easy to change, like 1 minute once you get past the fear that you may break them. Just pop the hood, use 3 fingers or so to put out by holding the slats. The grill (each side separate) comes out. I wouldn't advise getting aftermarket ones (at least not the chromes, the ones I saw look ugly). I got the pair for 90 taxes included from NJ (just asked for 335 grill part #s, I can post the part #s if anyone interested).

I guess I could probably get black ones from BMW as well then. $90 isn't as bad as I thought, and the exchange rate is good right now :-)

If you get aftermarket rubber mats, make sure they are fitted to the footwells. Otherwise, you'll have problems with the accelerator pedal.

I purchased a set of chrome tips at the dealer for $64 for the pair. They look outstanding.
