so what's the word on changing out the exhaust cam on supercharger engines?

1. would the ECU programming need to be changed? or is everything on the exhaust side mecanical?

2. for improved exhaust flow on a supercharged engined, would i want higher lift or longer duration?

3. i'm already planning on headers and high-flow cats. will the cams make a noticable difference?

4. is the VAC motorsports supercharger cam set a better way to go than just swapping out the exhaust cam?

I think the genereal consensus on S/C cam applications
is higher lift/LESSER duration to allow less blow down
(at least what I recall from past threads - search?)

///M3///M5 used the S/C VAC suggested cam setup
252*/256* int/exh and made over 400whp

The proven gains from pulleys, cams and exhaust
show to be coming from a CUSTOM tune,
not a preburned, hope-to-work-well-on-all-the-cars chip.

dig?

well, in my six-month plan, i'm trying to put together a whole new exhaust system - headers, high-flow cats and maybe a new exhaust (since larger pipes might be required). what i was hoping was that everything on the exhaust side is mechanical (or at least not dependent on the ECU) so that a custom tune isn't necessary, that any gains i find are based on increased volumetric effeciency.

so that's the idea.

obviously, a custom tune would be required if i added the intake cam. if i decide to do both cams, that's a whole new mess.
