Guys, if this post is somewhere else, I beg forgiveness, but I could not find it.

I just picked up an 04 325Ci with Sport Package, with what I believe are its original Conti Sport Contacts on its 45,000 miles. Between 10-30 mph the car sounds like it is grinding its wheels off, and then, magically either above or below that, the sound disappears completely. No noise heard in the driveway when you walk by and no noise at normal highway speeds.

I am assuming this is tire noise. Annoying as hell, but there is not shimmy or pull.

Agree?

Im riding pilot alpines right now (I know, winter tires in summer), but I have the same thing right now. I know its gotten worse in the last 5000 miles. Im getting Yokohama advan s4's soon. Its embarrassing to take someone for a ride, and they think, wow a BMW and the road noise is so loud it hurts my ears.
From what I've heard, conti sports get really loud later in their life, so probably time for some new treads.

Thanks. This car is my new daily driver, so I'm leaning to a new set of Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S shoes. I had them on my 98 328i and I was VERY pleased with them. I don't drive her in deep snow, but I travel a bit for work and don't want summer only tires in the winter in case I get hit with some light snow along the way.
