performance chip

so, when i got my 95 325i, the previous owner said that he had a performance chip installed when he first got it. but he doesn't remember what kind it was or any information on it, does anyone know a way for me to figure that out?

Take the DME (ecu) out of the DME compartment, open the unit, and there should be a label on the chip that says what company produced it.

I'm not completely sure but isn't it located under the hood right in front of where the glove box is located. There should be foam barrier that you can remove to get access to the DME.
