hi, if new set of JE Piston Rings were installed on a Supercharged engine, is there a break-in period required? Or is it fine to drive hard after install?

Thanks.

You need to drive it hard with load on the motor to set the rings. Don't redline it or drive crazy or anything but keep the motor loaded and don't stay at the same rpm.

Speed up in 3rd about 3/4 throttle to 5500 or so rpm and then let off letting the car slow down by itself. Then down shift to second and let it slow down more. This keeps a load on the motor and helps to set the rings. The rings should be set within the first 50miles and then you should be good. Though I wouldn't beat on it to0 hard until you have around 1,500 miles on it.

Also change you oil frequently. I would do it after the first 50 miles, then go another 200 or so, Then another 500 then I would just go to normal oil changes.

Your just sorry...

There have been many debates on this subject....lot of super uber builders dont break in their engines...

PPF being one of them....no breakin period at all on their builds...

:rolleyes

It is a completely relevant question, many including Andreas state that forged internals do not require break-in.

Thanks for your help. :rolleyes

There may be different methods to break-in your motor but it still needs to be "broken-in"

My bad about the post...I was drunk typing last night.
