I am curious being the owner of car #12 of the 45 cars originally imported to Canada. How many of these 45 are currently owned and driven in the US? Are there certain States which allow these cars to be street legal? These cars would have a small plaque on the inside of the glove box door with its #___ of 45 on it.
Thanks in advance for all replies.:)

I know of one motor that ended up in an E30 M3. Don't think any of them would be legal in the US because the motor has never been approved by the EPA. However, some people say they have legal Euro spec cars here in the US (a state title does NOT count).

At least two of the 43 cars that survived delivery (one was totalled in transit from the factory, the other during a test drive) were bought by and delivered to clients in the United States; a title check confirms they were first registered across our border.
