Alright - as I'm in Saskatchewan and old man winter is on his way here, can anyone tell me which are good winter tires? There is plenty of snow here so I'll need something with grip and longevity...
Thanks!

Get the Michelin X-ices.
You won't be disappointed. I put them on my ex Eagle.
For anyone questioning my recommendation, I present my qualifications:
I live in the snowbelt of Ontario, good old Bruce County.

For what it's worth, last winter everybody on the boards was raving about the Blizzacks. I almost bought a set just to join the crowd.

I just ordered the Blizzak WS60 a couple days ago. It's brand new and replaces the WS50 and REVO1, so you might want to look into that one. Might as well have the latest and greatest.
The Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi has always recieved great ratings in the snow and ice. It's a pricey tire though!

you should check out Tiretrends.ca, its a canadian site, and shipping is cheap.
I bought winter package there a couple years ago, got my tires on the rims and balances in 2 days.

I never liked them on ice, but maybe they have improved their compound, it has been about 6-8 years since I ran Bizzaks, Bob, Pburgh area

Keep in mind "Blizzaks" doesn't refer to a specific tire, rather a line of tires. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine :D Saying you have Blizzaks is just like saying you have Goodyears. Completely generic terms.
There are 12 different varieties of Blizzaks on the market right now, let alone discontinued models from the past.
Check out this video on the WS60. I'm trying to figure out what they're showing from 2:14 to 2:47. I'm guessing the Michelin X-Ice is mounted on the passenger side and the Blizzak WS60 is mounted to the driver's side. The yaw is due to better ice traction on the WS60??

Seems to me that the rear end comes around due to the rear end being lighter - no yaw occurs here :-)
But I do quite like the WS-60 - and since the Bimmer is a rear wheel drive and the tires seem to have excellent snow traction - something I need in Regina - I think I'll invest in a pair of those!

I don't have winter tires on the bimmer.
I'm just gonna buy a cheap truck for the winter. No sense driving my bimmer through a foot of snow. Not enough wheel clearance.
