hahaha, i know i'm going to sound like a newbie out here...but after i lost my first E36 i got a 300ZX TT...and had my mind set to JDM rather than DTM...but I recently got another E36, M3 this time...but lost it in an accident. Ahahaa, bad luck with black E36's...I will get another one again, but my question is...Does the S50 head bolt directly onto the S52 block? and was it the older M5 that had the 3.5L inline 6? does that block bolt onto the S50 head? don't make fun of me too much now...=P

M5 I6 engines are a different bore spacing than 3 series I6 engines. Nothing is intercahngeable between the two.

WRT S50 head on S52 block, I don't know. Some place like Metric Mechanic could probably answer that for you.

Yes an S50 head works on an S52 block no problem..

cool, thanks man. But what's up with those places that list their 3.5L motors for E36? Did they up the displacement of the S50-S52? or did they use a diff block?

longer crank stroke.

Yeah, custom billet cranks.. which i'll argue are worthless. The 3.2L stroke is already plenty long and pushes the rod ratio a bit.. plus its induction hardened forged steel, not billet- much stronger. 3.2L is all you need.. if you want big displacement, put an M62 4.4 V8 in there.

hahaha, seeing as how i'd like nothing less than the M62 in the E39 i'll just let her keep it in the car...and...jack the WHOLE car! hahaha, jp. When u use S52 block w/ S50 head does it at all raise or lower compression? and how much power could the stock components handle? I'm a turbo freak.

Let me know when your going to be taking this even faster M3 out, so I can stay off the roads!

i'm slow...took me a while to catch onto that one...actually someone ran a red light into ME....so maybe u should watch out for the elderly people that don't pay attention. How about when i get this new "faster M3" running we go to the track...^_-

Compression will not change. How much power can it handle? Hell i think AA is running something like 400rwhp on stock internals + a thick headgasket. Maybe more.
