Any idea how much it would cost to make my lip gold? I have ASA AR1's in black with polished lip. It looks amazing on the car i am using for a reference. This is from an E90post.com member. hope he doesnt mind.

That's hawt. I have the feeling it's one of those things that will look oustandingly good or bad, must like Time trial. In that case, very good...

sorry to bump this thread, but im getting tired of the AR1's. What do I have to do to paint the lip gold? what supplies would i need(which sandpaper, paint, clear coat)? any specifics would be great.
I need a change. However, im a little scared of how it would look with ASA's. here is a pic of a members car(similar to mine), hope he does not mind. could someone do a chop with the gold lip??

I personally think the only reason why the gold lip looks good is the WHOLE package. Personally I wouldn't run with them like that but it does look good on the e90 that is posted above. I can't seem to picture it looking good on an e36 too. :dunno

well i was thinking about doing it myself. Just refinish the lips. I just dont know what supplies I will need. I assume sandpaper, spray paint, and gloss. But, I dont know the specifics of all of those.
Anyone with experience refinishing wheels? Thanks in advance.

I don't think that e90 is painted gold, it looks anodized or maybe powdercoated. I don't know if just painting them would give you the same effect.

It will be a waste for you to paint them.
All it will take is one set of tires to be mounted, and theyll be ruined.

That E92 does look good, but it has the attitude to pull it off. Just make sure you car has the attitude first. Honestly, I don't see an E36 pulling it off.

Well im fairly "murdered" out, and have a decent drop(Koni SA's and H&R sports). If it looks like crap, I will probably just redo the entire wheel to Flat Black. So, It will be a sort of experiment.
anyone have input on the method to get the gold the E92 has?? Oh, and what stores would have such supplies? I live in a sorta small town.

Would the one on the right work? this is the link: http://www.duplicolor.com/products/gold-chrome.html
And I have polished lips right now. So, would I need to sand them or just prime then spray the paint? Im a big time noob when it comes to this stuff.
You could apply a candy gold topcoat to what you have and then clearcoat. If you are going to use rattle cans I think duplicolor sells a gold. GH

All I see is words and the only link is to a FS thread, so I guess my answer is no.
