318i K&N CAI

i've got a 93 318i with 250k. Should I install a kn cai on my bmw. Will it add hp or rob hp.

island motorsports put mine on and i noticed a big difference.

i also went to the twin pipe 328 setup for the exhaust since my 323 was only a single. again, big difference.

check out realoem.com for part numbers to see you can do the same.

though you may want to consider how long you are keeping the car...

i have the exact same model (93 318i) only i have 92k... ive been searching everywhere for a CAI... where did u find urs?... a response would be greatly appreciated

knfilters.com/air_intake/bmw_318.aspx thats where they are but i wouldnt reccomend putting one on without a heatsheild.......will just suck up hot air........speaking of which......ne1 seen a HS for this?

mine extends behind the headlight and came with a clear blue plastic 'cone' that surrounds the filter and protects from allowing hot air in. maybe just phone K&N and ask them why in the picture it shows the heat shield but not in the instructions.

It wont really increase anything so that it is noticeable but it will sound a lot better and with an exhaust youll be set.

thanks. i found a heat resistent wrapping that goes around the tube, will that do anything. o, and any hints on installing it? where to put the CAI and such

if the heat resistant wrappign is reflective or sliverish on one side then it should do a good job of combatting the heat, saw the ad for that wrapping in sport compact car magazine

thanks for the help.... i think im going to go buy the stuff i need now.... again if anyone has any installation tips that'd be great because i know even if you follow the instructions something always comes up haha
