My drivetrain couldn't take the stress, I think I blew up another tranny at the track. Hard to tell what it is yet but I think it might be the output shaft or something. I was just having a blast at the track recorded my best time ever 2:35 at Road America. But alas it broke.
Does the E46 M3 tranny direct swap into the M3. I am thinking it is perhaps a more robust tranny.

Yes it does. Although you need a euro 6spd shifter, euro crossmember, and E46 M3 sized clutch. Otherwise a direct swap.
I love my E46 M3 6speed.

But if you go with a euro e36 m3 6-speed tranny it will. My friend is selling one.

But I was having a blast up until it broke :)
I squashed a 997 GT3 today, it was a good day.

*another* tranny? you've broken one before? the trans should be plenty strong for ~400 ft-lb for a LONG time.
more info on what broke? perhaps tear it down and post pics?

I broke a gear once before I am not sure what happened this time. I have no report only the horrible sound that was coming out of the drive train. I was able to grab the driveshaft and and turn it back and forth. It was on the exit of a very fast corner at the top of third that something broke.

So let me get this straight: you blew your shaft or you blew a tranny on the track?

Sorry to hear that, but I've heard that our trannies are rated to about 540 lb.ft. for both the US and Euro E36 model versions. I heard the E46 M3 is rated to about 640 lb.ft. as is the e39 M5 tranny.
I can be wrong as this is based of info read and said by other members.

I guess I have to wait for the diagnosis. It is coming from right under the drivers seat no visibly broken drive shafts or half shafts.
