E21 = 3 series up to '83
E30 = 3 series '84 - 91
E36 = 3'er 92-99/00
E46 = 3'er 99/00 - 05
E90 = 3'er 06 - current

E12 = 5'er up to '81
E28 = 5'er 82-88
E34 = 5'er 89-95
E39 = 5'er 97-03
E60 = 5'er 04 - current

E23 = 7'er up to 87
E32 = 7'er 88-94
E38 = 7'er 95 - 01
E65/66 = 7'er 02 - current (E65 is short, E66 is Li version)

E24 = 6 series up to 89
E Iforget = 6 Series currently

Don't forget that the E24 has two versions, early based on the E12 chassis and later based on the E28 chassis.

True, though all carry are designated E24 by BMW.

I have an 87 M6 so I'm assuming it's the latter. Of course I have the added Dinan Suspension so that makes it E24i (The i is for I rock ;)

Does the Dinan set-up help the understeer that is prevalent in these cars? And how much does it cost?

It was done by a previous owner so I don't know how it drove prior. I will go out on a limb and say it probably helps a lot, but as much as a front engine car can be helped. I'm coming from a 911, so it all feels weird to me. I WILL say she hunkers-down low in a turn an just goes. I was told it's a stage 2 race suspension, but I can't put my hands on the records at the moment, but I will look at some point (somewhere around here in a drawer) and see what it says. I'm guessing it was done about 5 years ago, so i would think it's a little lower than current prices. I think the receipt listed the parts in the $2,300 range, but don't hold me to that please. Please remind me later to look if you really need the info, becuase I will forget :)

If so just dial more stiffness to the rear or less to the front and you will cut back on understeer.
