So winter's coming up here in Canadialand, and everyone knows that e36 headlights suck, so I want to upgrade my factory headlights to HID's. What are some of my options? I just want to upgrade the bulbs as I need some money for other parts for my baby. I don't know much about HID's, so any help would be appreciated.

While you can use them with non-projector headlights, they do not work very well. In order to avoid blinding oncoming drivers with dazzle, you will need to aim them pretty far down.

Pick up some Depo glass lensed Projector headlights and the HID kit to match their lamps and you will be good to go. Brighter light AND a better lens design

talk to Habbie at umnitza and he will hook you up. I just picked up HID fogs from him and they work great, plus the service is seriously #1!!

Putting HID's into regular stock lights will suck. If you are just going to do it that way buy some of the Euro light bulbs that are brighter and whiter. I used to have those and they made a big difference. However, HID with projectors just blows anything out of the water.

HID w/o the lens is pretty useless. Check the group purchase section and there are at least 2 well respected board sponsors selling many varieties/options.

Running HIDs without projector lenses is illegal and irresponsible. Its already illegal in itself to run HIDs on a car not originally equipped with the system, so please upgrade your headlights before purchasing HIDs.

HID systems require a ballast, ignitor, and bulbs, so just trying to get away with bulbs is not an option. Depos and other used projector headlight assemblies can go for about 50-150$. Once you get to 150$, you can buy brand new DEPO assemblies from vendors on the forums. HIDs are a bit pricy depending on where you find them and brand. You can get a complete setup from 80$ to ~250$.

Good luck on your purchases and installs.

once you get your DEPOs my friend has an HID business for a good price. Check out www.performancehid.com (http://www.performancehid.com) for what they offer. I got mine there and they are sweet
