View Full Version : Woohoo! Traded my Z3 for a Cooper S!
This morning I traded my 98 Z3 1.9 for an 03 Cooper S! I'm sooo excited! It's Dark Silver Metallic with a body color roof (like The Beastmaster's S :D ) , Sport Package, Cold Weather Package, 17" S-Lite wheels with run flat tires, Lapis Blue Gravity Leather, Automatic AC, On-Board Computer, Multifunction Steering Wheel, and Harmon Kardon Speaker system. Anyway, I'm at work for the evening, so no chance to post pics yet. And I don't even have a window in my office to look at it. :( Anyway, just thought I'd share my joy! Woohoo!

First of all, congrats to you!
Secondly, I don't want to appear nosy, but out of curiosity did you get a pretty fair deal?
The way the Z3 values have plummeted the last couple of years, I think I'd be afraid to even walk into my dealership with trading on my mind.

Congratulations! I'll echo what whamac said, the bottom of the market has plummeted. My car is worth $3k less than what I paid 10 months ago, and I got a decent price... trade ins usually shaft you as far as the payback.

Congrats on the purchase! You'll be wondering how many smiles per mile you get! Don't forget to join BMW CCA if you haven't done so. Your dealer probably offers CCA discounts on MINI accessories. My dealer carries MiniMania stuff and the BMP intake and I get discounts on them.

Congrats! How do you like the run-flats? Most of the feedback I've heard is that they're not worth writing home about. What's your take?
As far as trade in value on my Z3, I would say it was "fair", not what I had wish it could've been, but it definitely was not insulting. I had another MINI dealer offer me a trade-in price this past weekend and I also checked out what some 98 1.9s were going for in this area, so I had something to go by. Also, my Z3 was a CPO and still had a year left on the CPO warranty, so I think that helped, too.
