I know some people have done this but I've searched for some dyno graphs and can't find any. So what kind of power does an OBDI M52 make? Here's what I have: OBDI M52, M50 manifold, intake, exhaust, 21.5# injectors, AA chip specifically for all of the above. What can I expect to make? Does anyone have any actual experience with passing (California) smog (I haven't smogged mine yet), or are there only theories?

These things make about 200whp, don't they?

I would guess around 200whp. But are you sure you have an m52, because m52 engines weren't used until obd2. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you have an m50 engine?

I swapped the M52 into my e36 and converted it to OBDI :buttrock

Most people say a lot of crap about it not being worth it but I completed the whole swap including the engine for like $800. I originally bought the engine with headers, manifold, transmission, cluster, drive shaft etc. for $850 and sold the ECU for $50 so its esentially cost me $800. I'm satisfied.

But at 200whp I can't expect to keep up with M's unless its a bad driver can I?

+1 on the hp numbers

I've got an m52 that im swapping to obd1 and I'm putting m3 cams in. I'm hoping to be up around 210 - 220hp.

sound reasonable?

yes it does ... i've put .5 - 1 CL on an e36 3.2 m3 with dinan catback and intake, with my mods listed below again and again. so hp is around that hp.

actually since it was a 98 m3 .. it had the 3.23 LSD, while I only have the 3.15, so i probably had a leading edge somewhere to out accelerate him to 130 from 30mph multiple times.. in the mean time a c4 vette tagged along and couldn't keep up ... hahahahahahah auto for sure

Yeah that sounds like a pretty good deal, I'd be satisfied too in your position.

I don't know about numbers but I don't have to worry about smog imho. Most likely you'll get better results with the newer engine, even with mods.

What suspension do you have? I like your stance a lot!
