Racing Sparco NT-R wheels? Odd ball bolt spacing?

I've got a couple questions:

1. Why does BMW use an oddball spacing for their bolt circle?

2. Does anyone know if Racing Sparco NT-R wheels are available in a 5x120 bolt pattern? If not, does anyone know of any copies that look like them that are available?

1. people in germany probably ask the same thing about american cars.
2. you can get an adapter if there is no other option
btw they're generally called lugs not bolts (not trying to be an ass just to clear up any confusion)

Yeah, but most cars generally *have* lugs and not bolts. :)
