Purpose of multi-peice wheels?

I did search this but didnt get any results. I know this is probably a stupid question but what is the purpose of multi-peice wheels? It would seem that having 2 peice or 3 peice wheels would make them weaker. Im assuming thats not the case but would someone mind explaining this to me?

Exactly.....more of a chance to save a wheel if it gets badly damaged. Say you damage the lip of a 1 piece wheel to the point where you have to replace the whole wheel, in which on a 3 piece wheel you'd only have to replace the lip.

easier to fix. Change the look of them if you ever get sick of it

it also allows custom sizes. you can get wider barrels, wider lips, depending on offset that you want.

2 piece wheels cannot be adjusted like 3 piece. also 3 piece wheels need to be sealed.
