that price looks low to me..! check the history of the car out... & if he has maintenence history for that car, I would say go for it...

That car looks very clean. I say look over the maintenance history and then test drive it. Car just doesn't look like a lemon to me but looks ($4200 for 86k miles) can be deceiving.

That is what bugging me.... if its a clean car. the owner can easily get more than 4200 IMO...
but you never know.... ppl do get good deals... I wd say go check out the car , get it checked out by a mechanic.. and if things are good then go for it...

It is very important to take you car to an independent German Motor Machanic. I did this with a cat that has a salvaged title and it was very informative...to did cost me $95, but ti was very worth it. I bought the car by the way.

That car is going to leave you wanting even more, in a couple of months. I say hold off on the deal for 2 reasons. 1. You can bypass any troubles or regrets you might be leading yourself into with this unsolved mystery of a car. & 2. By giving yourself more time to save, you can ultimatly sell your 318, have enough to buy a decent m3, and leave your crave for more power satisfied.

or i could always get the 5spd that my mechanic has and just bolt on a turbo and call it a day

ya but the M3 is gonna cost him ATLEAST twice the price of this 325.
It seems that it may be right at that 'change a lot of stuff mileage' You know like suspension, cooling system, water pump and a few things that I am missing for sure. But he says negotiable! How bad do you really want it

eh i dunno i almost want to keep my car and put a 5spd on and a turbo. or if i were to sell it i would try to get at least 4500. its had the whole cooling system replaced 500 miles ago and the body's in good condition. plus it only has 97,000 miles so..

The car is a 93. $4200 is an alright cost for a car thats what 14-15 years old. People have bought cars just like this one for half of what your paying. Just my $.02

That car is priced just barely below KBB, and he probably just wants to get it sold and be done with it, so by pricing it a little lower than everything else he gets more attention, better offers, and a quicker sale.
Run a Carfax (altho they are pretty lame), check title, have the car fully inspected ("Pre-Purchase Inspection"). The trim is 40 minutes of your time and 4 bucks at Kragen. Just get a black trim restorer (yes, they have those). I have one called "Restore Black" by Bondo, works fine, gets everything nice and shiny black again and comes with an applicator. Just keep a wet paper towel handy or tape off the areas you work on, if not wiped off immediately the black polish will set in the paint and you'll have to get lots of wet paper towels and remove it.

yea im still wondering if its really worth my time selling my car and getting another one. having to deal with titles inspection, making sure the other car isnt going to break down right away. that kinda stuff is what im worried about but driving some other than a 318is is tempting.. o and thanks for all the help

if you can get it...around 3700 or even 3000...i would say go for it...
coz i got my 95 325is down from 7000 to 4.5k...
if not just save up the money get a e36 M3...or something much faster...
that's wat i would do...

I ono car looks dented to me. Stay away from it. I never rush into anything, I got a 325i for under $1000 runs fine, Automatic though. I got my 5speed 318is for $1500. good condition. My other 5speed 325i I got for $4000 in mint condition, way better than that one, close too, right in Sacramento. Be patient and good things come and when they do, you wanna have the money ready.
