Is there ANY possible way to lower the seats in the 36? I'm 6'4" 200lbs., and if I'm in a proper driving position my head actually stays in contact with the roof. WHADDAP?

Do you have power or manual seats? Supposedly the manuals go lower since they don't have all the motors and stuff below them.

I'm 6'3" and my head will run right up against the headliner as well. Drives me nuts. The coupe also has the least headroom, btw. The sunroof really kills it. Even the vert has a good inch more!

Your head wouldn't hit in a sedan, especially one without a sunroof.

Crap. I have a sunroof, and it's a 2-door.

Curses...

I've got the electrics, by the way.

SUPPOSEDLY the manuals go lower? Yeesh, I'd have to find another 32XiS with manuals... and a sunroof. I think there's one at a shop I know that I could sit in...

What options do I have for comfortable, but LOWER, aftermarket seats if the manuals idea falls through?

damn, while you guys are having trouble hitting your head on the roof, i'm having trouble with the seat being too low sometimes. I'm 5'8 btw lol

I'll give you two of my inches and 30 lbs. of muscle mass, and we'll call it even.

Still need ideas, all the aftermarket seats I've ever seen are fixed racers, and this is still my DD. Gonna be a track car, though when I get the next bimmer; yeah, I'm hooked. :stickoutt

Actually, a cheap option would be to simply buy some OEM manual E36 seats from a salvage yard if they have any in decent condition or off a member on here or c/l or bimmerfest or whatever.

Can't say from first hand experience, but I've read on here that E46 seats will sit you lower.

Apparently you only have to file the rear mounting holes 1/8" or so to make them fit.

I'm 6'3.5" and have plenty of headspace in my vert, both with soft- and hardtop.

Seat is at its lowest setting and when it is, it's pretty damn low (manual adjustment).

Supposedly e46 M3 seats are even lower.

Maybe pick up some used z3 seats? You'd lose the tilt option though I believe... but they'd sit really low in the car assuming they'd fit.

You'll get at least 1.5 inches with the manual seats. I did a side-by-side comparo with a friend's manual E36, and his seats were much lower.

Wait I'm 6 3 and in my sedan with automatic seats I have more than enough room. I can go about 3/4 of the way up before my head hits. But I still have them in the lowest setting.

Yeah, but coupe's have significantly less room. On top of that, iono if you have a sunroof or not, but those decrease room even more.

I do have a sunroof. But why are coupes so much lower.

Just a thought for all you 6'+-ers that are comparing your headroom...you also have to consider the fact that some folks are longer in the torso, while others are all legs.

For example, sitting side by side with a good friend of mine, we're eye to eye, but when we stand up, she's got over 7" on me. She's all legs while I am not. I'm 5'0" & she's almost 5'8".

See what I mean?

Too bad there's no way to swap out the roof for one with no sunroof... I'll just have to go find an e46 moon-roof to make it worth my while...

AWESOME news about the 1.5" for manuals. I'll try to find either just a driver's (budget option) and pick up the passenger's later, or hope to find a hell of a deal on a set.

Post on the "WTB" section...looking for a manual black seat. I hadn't noticed if, cosmetically, there is a difference between a manual & power seat for a vehicle produced in the same year. This of course, wouldn't apply to the sport seat (unless that is what you have).

I'm not sure what I have, really. But it makes perfect sense that manuals would be lower, and motors would be one less thing to worry about!

Don't get Z3 seats for a coupe though, as you won't have rear seat access...

Ok So Im 6'5" 200 And My Head Doesnt Hit The Roof. 328is.. Ride The Car Baller Status.. "lean Wit It Rock Wit It"

I don't like the lean, and I hate having to go full extension to put the car in third or fifth. I also want a smaller or higher steering wheel, my gas pedal to be 1" farther back, and my clutch to disengage fully 1" off the floor. It's a project. :D
