Anyone know why they use amber lights like this in these types of racing series?

It might be kind of neat to put on a daily driver, and perfectly legal according to the Sac-Sheriff Office I spoke with.

The GT3 Class uses the Amber lights for Class Recognition during Night Racing, that way other drivers in other classes know weather or not they are batteling for position or have a car in another class behind them, since they can't tell what kind of car it is.

Oh, that does make sense. Hmmm I wonder how amber ellipsoids with hid would look at night. :D

hey man, it is just yellow film i believe. I bought some for my fogs. It is like expel but it is tinted yellow. Will be putting them on my fogs really soon, it makes them look like french fogs.

Actually I spoke with someone that knows quite a bit about this type of stuff and there are a couple ways to go about it, that could detail having some glass made in perhaps an amber color. I am not real sure about it, but I will get more details when I don't have anything better to do with $900 to spend on hid/ellipsoids :)

well, the stuff i got only cost me $12. So, it would probably cost about $20 for ellipsoids. Would sure beat having an actual amber glass made.
