Sorry to clutter up the board, but I was wondering if there are any group buys on GC C/O's or if anyone wanted to organize one? I want the track/school kit, but it'd be cool if they included say RSM's with it or something... for the same price.... just an idea... if anyone else is interested, or such already exists please let me know... I'll join or call them up and see if we can start anything...
Thanks,
Boris

Do a search in the GB forum to find out. If not, maybe you could try to get one of our supporting vendors to start one :)

Ok, that makes 4 of us... any supporting vendors wanna do anything? Or can we do anything with GC directly? I'm a newbie at GB's...
If noone can do anything, I'll call GC and find out... *shrug* :dunno

I don't care about the wait... I'm just having doubts such a GB will go through if no vendors responded yet.... usually they get right on top of this kinda stuff... I guess I'll have to call GC directly and talk to them... see if they can do anything... I'm sure if anything goes through, we'll get a lot of people...

i don't think GC will support a GB of this type, they don't need to because we will end up buying their products anyways...

In a nutshell, it went south. mrclam is right, GC won't do a GB on customized CO kits.

Alright guys, I have to announce with regret, that I just called GC and they denied group buys. Whoever I talked to on the phone just flat out said "NOPE." that was the end of that.. doesnt matter how many people we get or anything else.
I asked why, he said it's not fair to their distributers...so then I asked whether the distributers had it cheaper, he said yes... after which, I asked him which distributor... he said only one distributor had the track C/O kit, and I "Might as well order through us because it's less hassle." So then I questioned whether it's really cheaper going through someone else, he said no, he was confused, etc....
Anyway... no offense to anyone... I'm sure GC is great... but I hate when people are sketchy... maybe he wasn't trying to be, but I'm going to think twice about ordering from them :(
So bottom line: no GB :(
Sorry guys...

think about it this way, if you buy through their distributor for less than they sell for, there is now a middle man taking a cut of the cost of the kit, obviously they want to sell the kit directly as they will make the most profit this way.
and if only one distributor carries the track kit, i doubt that its unfair to the distributors, its likely more of the fact that people are willing to pay 1200 for the kit, and if they are always busy with orders, there is no reason for them to lower the value of their labor to keep themselves even busier. hope that makes sense

Well, ofcourse it makes sense... I can understand why they said no, and in retrospect was probably a little more agitated than I should have been. But as a consumer you want some sort of courtesy for $1200. It just sounded like I was calling one of those NYC shops that sell electronics... and they don't care who you are, what you are, how much you're willing to spend, they have no time for questions, etc. That's a bit drastic, but you get the point.
Anyway, even though I said what I said, lol, I am still going to buy a GC kit, like I said... I was a little furious, I guess. (Yeah yeah, I'm a hypocrite!)
"Screw you hippies, I'm going home!"

Guys, I think another reason Ground Control is wary of group purchases is because almost all the kits they sell are custom-built, meaning spring rates and shock damping set just for YOU. It's not just a "buy-it-and-forget-it" sort of proposition, and I think GC wants to be sure that their customers are getting the right customer service, etc., since it's such a high-ticket item. (Not to say you can't do that with a group purchase, but it's difficult).
