I believe 2005 was the first year that LSD was an option. When I read ads for used MINI S's, none mention having one. Did most not get this option? I would think I would want one, especially for autox. What about the aftermarket if I purchased a 2003/4?

it's very rare to find one

even new ones, most people dont get the option, over on NAM most think it's crazy

honestly most buyers are not performance oriented, and skip the LSD for things like a arm rest, or a stereo upgrade

the vast majority are sold to little old ladies that think it's a cute small car, that's why they hold value so well

I have an '05 MCS/JCW which came with LSD. I can't imagine a front wheel drive car with this much power without LSD. When you switch off the DSC, HOLD ON!

I got one on my 2006 MCS2, but that's because I drove a 325iS for years and simply assumed it was better to be with than without. Since I don't drive a "without," can't help to compare. Ck out the NAM site. You may find comparison input there.

I waited 8 months to get a Jan '05 build date just for the LSD. :)

I've got one in my 07. No basis of comparison, so can't tell you how awesome or terrible it is. On the plus side, it was only $500.
