Blower fan for interior vents have stopped working. I searched I found a resistor in the ccu may be bad but I have a 95 analog controller. I also found if the fan would only work on high setting it maybe a capsitor issue but mine doesn’t work at all. I’m looking for a little guidance here is there a diy on this? If it’s the fan how do I get to it

Have you checked for blown fuses?

my guess would be a haxed vacuum line inside the dash behind the blower controll motor. fun stuff to work on.

but before you go messn inside ur car check for obvious/easy stuff first. fuses/connections

Where is the blower relay located?

I think you mean the resistor pack. It is located behind the kick panel of the driver's side, upper right (behind the left side of the OBC) towards the front, in the back of the firewall.

However, there are other things you want to check before the resistors. Keep in mind that the resistors are to work with settings 1 to 3, because on setting 4, there is no resisting, the current flows directly to the blower fan. If only the resistors are bad, the blower would still work on setting 4, so don't go spending $$ on the resistor pack just yet. Check the switch first. If you're not getting current thru the switch, that might be your problem. If the switch seems fine, hotwire 1 thru 4. If the blower doesn't react, your problem is more likely a defective blower fan. Make sure you test it before blowing $$ on a new one right away. Sometimes they tend to get a bit out of place and rub on the side, preventing it from turning properly, possibly frying the resistors in the first place, then your blower. You might not be at that stage yet.

The blower fan can be accessed from under the hood, right in between where the wipers are attached. You may end up having to break the old blower's fan blades to get it out since there's a tight fit in there. Just have patience and be careful when you install the new one. Note: You can see the resistor pack when you take the blower out, you just can't replace from there.

The resistors should not take you more than 10 minutes if need fixing. The blower may take you a little over an hour if not very familiar with it.

Remember, check the switch first, if not working, replace first, otherwise, check the blower, if not working, replace, and the resistors come last after you have a blower that works only on setting number 4.

I tried to post some links for you, but the website said I'm not allowed when I tried to post it and had to write this whole thing again (I actually liked it better the first time around). I hope it is because I'm new at bimmerforums and not a permanent thing. I am just trying to help someone fix what I fixed myself on my car and saved a lot of money. So, I am giving you the links without the links. Just add the w's and dot before it.

and also
pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/E36-blower_resistor/E36-blower_resistor.htm

Make sure you do some web searching on your own as well, the more you familiarize yourself with the parts, the easier it will be to fix it yourself.

Hope this helps, I'm not at home and have limited time and resources. Good luck and happy fixing!

Where is the blower relay located?
It's located in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

I'm having the 1-3 not working but works on high issue. I did a search but does anyone have the resistor values that replace the ones in the pack?
